Emergencies

In case of emergency day or night always ring 01562 745715. A practice doctor is always on duty between the hours of 8.00am and 6.30pm on weekdays. At all other times a tape recorded message will ask you to ring the Worcestershire GP Emergency Service – Tel: 0845 609 0669 where a nurse practitioner will answer your call and help you as necessary.

The Centre is situated within the Treatment Centre at Kidderminster Hospital, Bewdley Road, Kidderminster. Do not attend the Centre unless you are advised to. The centre is designed to provide emergency medical care out-of-hours.

The tape recorded message will also give you the telephone number of NHS Direct (0845 4647). NHS Direct is a telephone service staffed by nurses giving confidential healthcare advice and information 24 hours a day.

 Repeat Prescriptions

If you are having repeat medication the doctor may authorise you to receive some prescriptions without seeing a doctor every time you require more. You will be issued with a copy of your medication and this can then be returned to the surgery before you are due to run out and put in the prescriptions Letter Box. Any returned repeat medication requests will be ready for collection within 2 working days.

We can now also accept requests by email:  prescriptions@gp-m81005.nhs.uk  or Fax:[01562] 863010 clearly giving your details and the items that you would like to order.

If you are too ill to visit the surgery, please ring the surgery on 01562 745715. Except in an emergency, you should ring before 10.30am. On Monday to Friday 8.00am until 6.30pm, you will be answered by a member of our reception staff. At all other times you will be given the number of the Primary Care Centre.

In either case, the receptionist or nurse practitioner who answers the telephone will ask for details of the problem. If you think the visit is urgent or you are particularly worried please say so.

Sick Notes

The first 7 days of an illness are covered by a Self Certificate Form (SC2). You do not need to see a doctor in this period for a sick note. Self certificate forms are available from your employer or can be obtained from Reception.

By law, all employers are obliged to accept a self certificate but if they insist on a doctor’s certificate we are only able to issue a private certificate in these first 7 days of illness. Should your absence from work continue for more than 7 days you will then need to be seen by a doctor.
